A fabulous Opal and Diamond Ring

Probably one of the finest opal rings we have shown from our stock of antique rings.

The cabouchon cut opal shown is cushion shaped, measures 15x13 (5.78 carats) displaying a mass of vibrant colours, from flashes of fireglow orange, luminous greens, and lavender purples.

Retained by a yellow gold bezel, and around the outer edge white diamonds, 2mm each. Each shoulder is a fleur de lys pattern, set with small diamonds. Total diamond content estimated at around one carat. Bright and lively to enhance the opal.

Overall size, head only, 18.8x17.7mm, depth 7mm (opal depth add around 5mm) . Shoulders 9.7mm, high, width 6mm. Head tests as platinum.

Exceptional basket design under setting, and yellow gold band, both test as 18 carat gold. Band stamped 18CT PLAT, period assumed 1930s- Art Deco. No hallmarks required for this period.
