An open faced pocket watch. Plain arabic dial with blue steel hands , seconds dial at six o'clock.

9 carat gold case by Dennison. Hallmarks Birmingham 1928. Manual wound jewelled movement by Buren.

In 1898 Henry Williamson acquired the Swiss company of Fritz Suter & Cie, which was located in the Swiss town Büren an der Aare. He changed the name of the business to the Buren Watch Company and after extensive investment began producing pocket watches and small clocks here. It became the only Swiss watch Company that was English owned. Williamson got into trouble for incorporating too many Swiss made parts into the English watches he made in his factories in Coventry and Birmingham and after this he only made complete watches in Buren and imported them into UK as Swiss Made. After his death in 1914 Buren, along with all the other Williamson enterprises, prospered until the late 1920’s when the global financial crisis hurt the business. It finally went into liquidation in 1931. Buren was sold to a consortium of Swiss businessmen and the importation of Buren watches to the UK was taken over by Rotherhams.

We will warranty this watch for one year (except accidental damage including the balance staff) Currently in good working condition and serviced by us in 2023.
