A large and unusual bar brooch . Nephrite deep green jade colour, 90cm length, width 15mm. Each end has plain caps, one stamped 585 and tests as 14 carat gold.

No hallmarks as non UK manufacture, weight 19.6grams. Early 20th century. Looks beautiful when held to the light .

Nephrite is one of the two distinct minerals commonly known as jade. While nephrite doesn't match the variety or the fine green “imperial jade” colours found in jadeite, it does occur in attractive colours, including green, and is even more durable as a gem material for jewellery and carved art objects.

This fine item does have a small mark at the top right hand side but this does not affect the overall value of the item. (shown on one image)
