A very pretty dress ring from the late part of the 19th century. Set with a cabouchon cut moonstone, 11.7x8.9mm, depth 6mm, retained by multiple claws. 

The outer border are shaped scallops with mille grain edging and each set with a pair of old cut white diamonds, 1.5mm each, in total eight sections. Each shoulder is also set with a pair  of small diamonds.

Head size 17x14mm, depth 3.6mm from the rear of the moonstone. The shank is stamped 18CT, and tests as 18 carat gold. Victorian rings did not have to have a UK hallmark. Ring weight 3.3grams.

Historically, the most valuable, transparent moonstones with strong blue sheen came from Burma, and this ring has that tinge in its overall colour.
