A fabulous antique butterfly brooch
A beautiful brooch, late Victorian in the shape of a butterfly.
This wonderful piece has diamonds on the abdomen of the insect, these measure 3.4, 2mm and 1.4mm old cuts. Rubies are set as the butterfly's eyes.
Each wing is cobalt blue enamel and decorated with tiny rose cut diamonds across both wings. The brooch is yellow gold, no hallmarked as not required for this period, tests as 15 carat gold.
Measures 32x17mm, weight 9.6 grams. A rare example of Victorian craftsmanship, and an item that will be treasured for generations to come.
Overall condition- enamel perfect, stones all present and well secured.
