Dubey & Schaldenbrand was founded in 1946 by the inventors of 'the split second chronograph', Georges Dubey and René Schaldenbrand. Its headquarters are located in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
Patented in many countries, the revolutionary idea of the split second chronograph was their first creation in 1946. Mr. Dubey made some modifications to the 'Landeron' base movement in order to bring to the market an affordable split second chronograph. Part of the complication was hidden under the dial but the split second hand didn’t have enough power to support it. Adding a useful spiral between the two chronograph hands provided the power it needed.
Inspired by Art-Deco, the brand was built with avant-garde ideas that brought evolution to the watch industry with special mechanical movements. Dubey & Schaldenbrand continues and thrives for evolution and design (mainly with is historical tonneau shape) whilst respecting the traditional watchmaking skills of our ancestors. We are developing watches with our own DNA using our own tools, special materials and achieving ground breaking innovations.

We advise using our highly commended buy and free returns service. There is no substitute for actually seeing an item and trying it on. You pay NO postage to you, NO postage back- you cannot lose! If you do not like the item , just pack it into our post free envelope (already addressed )and pop it to the post office. As soon as it comes back to us we issue a quibble free refund.

Royal Mail Strike: During the strike we will endeavour to get an item delivered as quickly as possible. If you are concerned and the item is urgent, please call us on 01373 462089 or email contact@vintagetom.co.uk to discuss as we have other delivery solutions that may suit. Any returns we can discuss with you. (We will use DHL as an alternative, we do NOT use Evri)

International Orders
Delivered At Place (DAP), also known as Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU), means that the seller is responsible only for shipping the product and the customer is responsible for paying any import fees, including VAT, duties, and clearing fees. Delay in paying these fees may cause shipment delays or even returned shipments.
We are unable to accept international returns unless an item is faulty.

Bought an Opal ring as a gift, lovely, but then saw another I preferred, still from Vintage Tom. Received both rings the day after purchase. I received a pre-paid envelope to send item back, which makes returns simple. I was refunded for the first ring the day after I had returned it. I preferred the first box, so they sent me that one too. Absolutely first class experience, can’t think of any other place I’ve shopped that comes close. I purchased an eternity ring for my wife via the Vintage Tom website. The whole experience has been great, not just the product but especially the team, particularly Alex Hart, who couldn't have been more helpful.
I ordered the ring on a Sunday evening and I got a tracking email saying it had been sent by 10.30am the next morning. The ring arrived quickly in a lovely box and was exactly as shown and described, it also came with a valuation certificate. This is the second time we have used Vintage Tom and both times we have been really impressed. They offer free resizing, free delivery and free returns and although we didn’t need to contact them this time around, when we did last time Alex was so helpful. I would absolutely recommend them.
