A vintage Sapphire and Diamond cluster ring

A fine and outstanding late Victorian cluster ring. Features to the centre a dark blue sapphire 5.8mm (est 0.88 carats) mille grain setting. 

Surrounded by ten old brilliant cut white diamonds 3mm each (total est at one carat) colour i-j, clarity Si. Head measures 13mm, depth 4.6mm. The head is silver* , the under setting is a ribbed design and tests as 18 carat gold. 

The shoulders are hand made with carved decoration, the band is ribbed, all test as 18 carat gold, no hallmarks required for this period. 

Weight 5.3grams. Size P 1/2, we can resize free of charge. 

* Silver was used even for top quality rings in the Victorian period as platinum was not introduced to manufacturing techniques until the 20th century.
