A pretty vintage Sapphire and Diamond ring

A late 1930s vintage cluster ring. Featuring a mid to dark blue rectangular centre stone, this 5x3mm (est 1/4 carat)

An outer border of old brilliant cut white diamonds, each 2mm, colour h-j, clarity Si, numbering ten in total, estimated at 0.30 carats. Retained by platinum claws, head measures 10x8mm, depth 4.2mm. 2.9grams.

18 carat yellow gold under setting and band. Stamped 18CT, does have a date inscribed by a previous owner, August 1940.  Hallmarks not legally required at this time

Nice provenance being attributed to the Spitfire summer of 1940, (Battle of Britain)
