A Victorian Diamond cluster ring
A fine antique cluster ring. Principal diamond measures 5.8mm (est 0.70 carats) , old brilliant cut, (European) colour G-i, clarity Si.
Surrounded by eight matching diamonds, each 3.3mm (est 0.15 carats each) . Total carat weight estimated at 1.90 carats. The head is silver, diameter 11.7mm. Depth 5.6mm. Many Victorian rings has silver settings as platinum was not used so much for settings until the 20th century, so to enhance the brightness of the diamonds white metal would be used, and this would be silver.
The band tests as 18 carat yellow gold, no hallmarks were legally required. Ring weight 3.4grams. Size J, we can resize free of charge.
A beautiful ring from the glorious era of Queen Victoria and the skills of the English goldsmiths so much on view with this example.
