A platinum aquamarine and diamond three stone ring
A fine three stone ring, containing a rectangular aquamarine centre stone with cushion cut corners, 8x6.5mm (c1.40 carats). Mille grain set.
Aquamarine’s name comes from the Latin for seawater and it was said to calm waves and keep sailors safe at sea. March’s birthstone was also thought to enhance the happiness of marriages. The best gems combine high clarity with limpid transparency and blue to slightly greenish blue hues. Like many beryls, aquamarine forms large crystals suitable for sizable fashioned gems and carvings.
Each side an 0.30 carat brilliant cut white diamond, colour G-h, clarity VS-Si. Mille grain set. Head 15x8.5mm, depth 5.4mm, weight 3.7grams. Each shoulder tapers to a point and set with two very small diamonds. Tests as platinum, hallmark not present, as a pre 1973 ring this was not a legal requirement. We can stamp a hallmark, please allow 28 days for the Assay Office to apply. Period estimated at 1960-1970. Condition- fine to excellent.
