A colour change synthetic alexandrite dress ring
SKU: P22278
A dress ring containing a large circular synthetic alexandrite stone which colour changes from purple in artificial light to blue in natural light. Most gemstones described as synthetic alexandrite are actually synthetic corundum laced with vanadium to produce the colour change. This alexandrite like sapphire material has been around for almost 100 years.
The colours in this stone are beautiful and when the light is mixed flashes of purple and blue are quite bewitching. Diameter 15mm, depth 8mm. Four large claws retain the stone. Weight 5.6grams. The shank is stamped 14 and tests as 14 carat gold. No hallmark as overseas manufacture.
Period assumed at 1950-1960. Fine overall condition, size M. We can resize free of charge.
