An exceptional Art Deco purple sapphire and diamond ring
A large rectangular cluster ring containing a beautiful cushion shaped purple sapphire measuring 11.91x8.10x5.37mm with an estimated weight of 4.86carats. Purple Sapphire is from the Corundum variety, which is an aluminium oxide mineral.The presence of vanadium is what gives it its purple colour. Its colour ranges from light amethyst, to lavender, to deep purple.
Surrounded by twenty four rose cut diamonds measuring between 1.7 and 1.9mm to an estimated weight of 0.24 carats. Colour F-g, clarity Si1-i1. White rub over/bead settings. Head 18x14mm, depth 7mm, weight 4.79grams. Period Art Deco- 1920-1930.
This ring originates from Belgium and is stamped PT950 and 0.750 with Belgian marks, testings as platinum and 18 carat white gold.
Condition: fine, with just a few surface scratches to the sapphire when viewed under an eyeglass. We have a Safeguard Valuation for this ring which has suggested an insurance value of £7,600.00 Dated 13.12.2021. This is a rare and superb ring from the period and will not disappoint!
